KMB Offers Band Instrument Lessons to the Community
The Kiel Municipal Band is planning to offer virtual instrument lessons to any adult member of the community. Lessons are available on all instruments of the concert band, both winds and percussion and will be conducted via the Zoom app, which is a free, downloadable package for smartphones or computers. The teacher for these lessons is Dr. Jon Meyer, director of the KMB, and you may inquire about the lessons using our contact page.
Participants will need to provide an instrument, a music lesson book, a music stand, and have a computer or phone with the Zoom app, speakers, and microphone. Lessons will take place once per week on either Monday or Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 9:30 PM. The lessons will be approximately 20 to 30 minutes long and will be on an individual basis (not group lessons). There is a limit of eight participants at this time, reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no cost for the lessons. However, if you are able to do so, a donation made to the KMB would be welcomed and appreciated. Participants must be willing to commit to practicing their instrument between lessons. Lesson times and length will be arranged with each participant. These lessons are primarily for post-high school adults who wish to begin or continue their music skills and experiences.
The KMB hopes that this will encourage those who take lessons to become confident players and willing to join the KMB at a future date when rehearsals can resume.
